“We believe that the sense of smell is the most powerful and undervalued sense that we have.” And with these words we introduce you to LIMEN and their smart device, our first startup from our accelerator program Hardtech Innovation. LIMEN joined our 2nd batch of the program a few months ago. They are developing a smart device with functional smart home perfumes.
What does this mean?
You wake up and want to feel happy and awake? Your diffuser will give you the right fragrance. You can’t fall asleep or have a stressful day ahead? You can sync the smart device with an app, your calendar, TV or even Spotify.
Yes. Big goals for the team of four: Improving your mood and quality of life with the right fragrances at any time. The smart device can store multiple fragrances that are developed by one of the co-founders Diletta Tonatto. She is a Perfumer and owns the premium perfume brand Tonatto in the Italian city Turin.

Who are the other three team members that are based in Berlin? What is the most helpful part of MotionLab.Berlin for LIMEN in the prototyping process?
We have Michele Tiberio, the other co-founder of LIMEN. He is a Design Engineer, UX researcher, #sustainability expert and is in charge of the business development.
Then there is Industrial Designer Juliana Vieira Santos who is responsible for the product design of the smart device of LIMEN. She also creates all the prototypes and 3D models.
The other Product Designer in the team, Andrey Urodov, has a background in #digitalmedia and products. Andrey will take care of the #hardware prototyping of LIMEN, to bring LIMEN smart devices to life. Moreover, he is in charge of developing the app and software. You will most likely find him in the electronics lab.
The most helpful part of MotionLab.Berlin for LIMEN? The electronics lab and the #community that is currently forced to test every prototype of the team.
Co-founder Michele: “For the program, we have the main #goal to design and develop LIMEN’s first product. This is not a linear process but rather a very complex and iterative one: we design, prototype and test it (on the community), and then we start again. By the end of January, we plan to have two more prototypes of the smart diffuser and start more tests. We are also planning our #crowdfunding campaign – stay tuned!”
