STARTUP INVESTMENTS

We specifically look for early stage B2B pre-seed to seed stage hardtech startups that are working on technical solutions that aim to address the pressing problems affecting greenhouse gas emissions. 

Startups should: 

• consist of at least 2 person team working in full time
• willing to move to Berlin, Germany
• have developed a mid-fidelity prototype and generated traction from first user feedback tests
• received less than 2.5m€ investment
• < 5 years old

We focus on the following criteria when reviewing your application: 

1. Validated Problem: Teams that have identified a substantial and time-sensitive issue, either through extensive customer interactions or personal experiences.
2. Strong Founding Team: We seek teams combining robust engineering skills with a customer-centric approach. Balancing product development with a deep understanding of customers and the envisioned business model is valued.
3. Working Prototype: Demonstrated progress is crucial. While a polished product isn’t necessary, a functional prototype that outlines the potential solution for the target customer’s problem is expected. It serves as a working hypothesis of the ultimate solution.
4. MotionLab.Ventures program fit: It is extremely important that we are able to not only work together but more importantly help you succeed. Thus we need to know that our ecosystem and infrastructure will be able to help you develop further. 
5. Product-Market fit: we seek to support solutions that are actively working on products that will contribute to a carbon net zero by 2050. Our focus is thus to support those startups whose products and services solve the challenges of the biggest greenhouse gas emitting sectors. 

We will review your application and within two weeks inform you on the next steps.

After you have submitted your application our team of experts will review it and provide you with the respective feedback. 

• This is followed by a first interview round (mostly remote/online) in which we aim to get to know your team and better understand your solution. Based on this interview and the documents provided we will begin our due diligence process. 
• The final step is an interview round with MotionLab.Ventures limited partners in which you pitch your startup and answer their pressing questions.

MotionLab.Ventures partners with strong corporate partners who not only help support the startups in terms of their strategic development and securing pilot customers but also aim to provide larger follow-on investments into the most promising technologies.
