Making healthy living easier and faster? Our third MakeUp Hardtech Innovation team is currently working on their solution to make this happen!
WinGrow creates a vertical farm for your window board at home that grows microgreens in a week and the best thing about it? You don’t need extra soil or further watering! Microgreens from the “tiny vertical farm” can be harvested after 7 days and are ready to eat. Cut them with scissors and pimp your meal. All materials are made in Berlin.
The team at WinGrow is full of foodies. They love to cook and garden! They also love innovative ideas and contribute to the food revolution. “We believe that our food system is the biggest hidden contributor to climate change. About 34% of all CO2 Emissions are caused by what humanity/people eats/eat. Growing your own greens is a first step you can take, to cut food transports, increase freshness and cut food waste. With our recipes of the planetary health diet we also help our community to eat tasty, healthy and climate friendly.”
THE TINY VERTICAL FARM: PROTOTYPING, GOALS & TEAM

Who is the team? Next to Tommy Gruber who is the Marketer and Project Manager. There is Adrian Doms, the finance expert of the team. And also Matt Maehner, who is the Product Developer with a background in ecological agriculture. Together they studied in Regensburg and even used to be flatmates (and they still like each other!). Responsible for woodworking and product development is Ferdinand Lehmann and Artur Turkuli creates the website and its design.
“Our goal for the program is to be online with our store by the end of the term and provide our first customers with the opportunity to grow their microgreens with our window vertical farm. In general, we are aiming for organic growth and hope to contribute to the food industry transformation step by step.” They biggest goal in the program is to finish their prototype, perform the first steps of series production of course: Build a network. Especially product and business development is their main focus right now. And one of their biggest milestones will be achieved next week: The Launch of Wingrow.de
What is their biggest learning since the start of the startup accelerator program? “Prototyping is everything! We can only recommend other startups to get into doing, prototyping, and testing as soon as possible. At the same time, it is important to establish many contacts with suppliers as quickly as possible. It can take months before a reliable supply chain is really established. In general, as a startup, you should not overthink everything. Build, measure, learn and DO IT.”
The team won the second price of the startup competition of the HNEE Eberswalde. Thanks to this they now have the opportunity to shoot a small TV report with the RBB. “At the beginning of April, we plan to go online with our shop before the demo day of the Hardtech Innovation Program takes place on April 27th. We are very much looking forward to it and hoping for big support for all teams participating in the program.”
