1. When are your opening hours? When can I work at MotionLab.Berlin?

Generally, our Space is open from 8 AM to 8 PM on weekdays. However, with your membership you have 24/7 access to our workspace, even on weekends, and can continue building your prototype all night long!

2. How do I gain access?

Our entire workspace is secured by a digital locking system. For this purpose, each member receives a batch, which serves as a key card to any space at MotionLab.Berlin released for him/her. The member batches have to be worn visibly at all times within our space.

3. How am I insured?

We have a company, product and environmental liability insurance. However, we recommend that you take out your own liability insurance.

4. What languages do you speak?

Our MotionLab.Berlin team speaks many different languages: English, German, C++, Python, French, Spanish, Hungarian, Ndebele, Shona, Afrikaans, Russian, Ukrainian, Bavarian, Danish, Italian, C# and SQL. Our members surely speak even more!

5. What kind of spaces are available for me to use? Are there additional storage options?

With your membership you have access to our two locations in Alt-Treptow and Marzahn. From startup offices for permanent rent, meeting rooms of different sizes, our machinery labs, makerspaces, coworking spaces, various event spaces, to our popular MakerGarages, there are workspaces for every occasion! As a storage option we can offer you pallet spaces or lockers.

6. Is it possible to register my company’s official address at MotionLab.Berlin?

1. How do I become a member at MotionLab.Berlin?

That’s easy: Check out our membership options, sign up for a personal tour at MotionLab.Berlin Treptow or at our new location in Marzahn with one of our colleagues online and register as a member in our workspace directly on site or after the tour at home.

2. Are there student discounts available?

Yes, we have a student discount on our Professional Membership. Just talk to our colleagues when you register on-site or check the box provided when you register online. Don’t forget your student identification card/ student enrollment certificate! You will need to provide proof of student enrolment each semester to continue using this discount.

3. As an artist, what do I have to submit to get the discount?

We have a discount for artists on our Professional Membership. In order to receive this discount, you need to be able to prove that you are working as a full-time artist and for example are registered at the Künstlersozialkasse. For this purpose, you can show us documents that demonstrate such affiliation with the KSK.

4. Can I do a trial day or take a flexible break from my membership?

Of course you can get to know our MotionLab.Berlin workspace through trial days. For this purpose we offer day passes for 10 € per day. You can also easily pause your membership on a monthly basis. If you want to pause your membership, this can also be done with 25 days notice before the 1. of the next month. Pausing your membership means you will avoid another sign-up fee when you are ready to return. It will also allow you to maintain remote access to our hardtech community, the innovation network, and our Slack channels.

5. What payment methods do you accept?

Currently you can pay your membership by direct debit and, after a credit check, also by invoice. Payment by credit card will also be possible in the future.
 

6. How long is the cancellation period and how can I cancel my membership?

You can easily cancel your membership online through our membership platform. You will need to do this 25 days before the first day of the following month, as this is when each billing cycle begins.

The cancellation period for our individual memberships is only 25 days. For startup memberships, we have a cancellation period of 3 months.

Instead of cancelling your membership directly, you can also pause it in order to keep access to our MotionLab.Berlin hardtech community, the innovation network, our Slack channels, member-only events and the internal newsletter.

1. What machinery do you have?

We have a wide range of high quality machines in our different makerspaces at MotionLab.Berlin. From various 3d printers, large laser cutters, a metal workshop with various machines, our electronics lab, a workshop for textile processing, a wood working lab with a lot of different machines and a large wood CNC milling machine, there is everything that makes the heart of an inventor beat faster. In addition, we have of course a variety of smaller e-tools and a lot of other equipment. For a detailed overview of all machines and tools click HERE.

2. How can I use the machinery?

The use of our machinery is included in our Professional Membership for an unlimited amount of machine hours at no extra charge. All you have to do is attend a workshop for the machines you want to use directly with our workshop leaders, or provide us with certificates proving your knowledge of working on the respective machine. This way we can ensure for all our members (including you) that the machines work permanently and do not have to fail due to user errors.

1. How can I participate in an event or host my own event at MotionLab.Berlin?

We regularly organize amazing events in our Berlin event space at MotionLab.Berlin. Just register online via eventbrite. You can find all links and info about the upcoming events and all berlin event series here. Even if you’re not a MotionLab.Berlin member, you can still participate in a lot of different event formats! Simply take a look at our event calendar.

2. What startup programs do you offer and how can I participate?

Within our startup program series we can offer you 3 different programs at the moment at MotionLab.Berlin. From an educational student program to a startup accelerator, we can support you with a wide range of great programs! For all information on the programs and your application click here.

In our innovation network, there is also always the opportunity to participate in great programs. As a member, it is also worthwhile to take a look at our communication channels!

3. What kind of workshops do you provide and how can I participate?

Just register for the workshop of your choice online and come to MotionLab.Berlin on the specified date. You can find an overview of all workshops and the registration here.

As a MotionLab.Berlin member you get a 20% discount on the workshop prices, but of course you can also join the workshops and register without a membership!
